Gorio

my wife and i ate at gorio on may 20, 2007. we ordered one steak served for two, a half bottle of champagne, a bottle of chateau talbot 1988 plus some other minor items. the bill was 113,998 yen or US$ 950. we both thought that it was the best steak that we had ever eaten. the talbot was great too. they had a large selection of older bordeaux. i intend to eat at gorio every time that i go back to tokyo. the restaurant is hard to find. we walked from our hotel and we had them mark the restaurant on a map. they mismarked block 18 in ginza 8 chome. the restaurant does not have a name in roman characters outside. it does use the word steak outside, however. we found it by comparing the phone number on the outside menu to the phone number that we had found on the internet. the one waiter who spoke just a little english was helpful and congenial.
